Creativity as self-care means finding such a deep point of convergence with something we love that we become so engrossed as to experience timelessness and flow.
It means we take our time and chance to be in our own company and open to the world as it is at a specific, given moment.
From that place of openness, we may truly notice what is crossing our skies, what is obscuring or illumining our inner lenses.
First of all, be-coming creative entails a movement, a shift, an adjustment: an attunement to the rhythms of things.
It requires that we attend to the silence below the sound of our mood, and before that to that very sound.
Creativity is a practice of deep listening: down below, on the ocean floor where undercurrents cross our consciousness in ways we are barely aware of.
We need to start listening for real.
Only then, may we be able to invite another in our presence.
Creativity is a spiritual path, a non-denominational, dogmatic path.
It is the way of inquiry.
It is the way of questions that stay open with marvel, puzzlement, gratitude, doubt, grief, tears, humbleness and joy.
The creative path is for those who feel and think deeply, often don't conform and question many conventions.
They do so not out of a contrarian spirit, but out of a real thirst for authentic life and freedom of the soul.
